One of the goals of the project was to have trained lifeguards who don't necessarily work for us, and we have found this to be even more frequent than expected as there are many jobs available to people once they have gone through the training. Our original budget assumed we would have 100 people participate in the lifeguard training this year. As of November the actual number is 50, so we are a little behind schedule. Only 14 work for TBL, which means there are 36 people in Dar, who are trained in lifesaving, that may be pursuing lifeguarding as a new career or at the very least be available for rescues when they see incidents taking place. We view this as a great thing, and one of the goals of this project.
